ABOUT
What is the Global Health Challenges Conference?
The global health challenges conference is a student led event started last year (2017-18) by Keele students alongside the Keele Friends of MSF (Doctors without Borders) society, with the aim to bring together students, healthcare professionals and experts in the field who are passionate about global health and issues surrounding healthcare inequalities.
The theme of this year's Global Health Challenges Conference is : "Neglected and Vulnerable Communities", in which we will discuss challenges in provision and access to healthcare, and how this affects individuals and communities worldwide - Who is most affected by healthcare inequity and how can we tackle this? The day will be made up of inspiring keynote talks from healthcare professionals who have worked in the field with Doctors without Borders (MSF), as well as interactive workshop sessions run by experts.
Themes include - Provision of healthcare in conflict zones, women's health in rural areas, modern day slavery, healthcare crises worldwide and mental health and psychiatry in areas of conflict. There will also be a group discussion led by an expert panel, and photo exhibition showcasing photography taken by MSF staff in the field.

Meet Our Team
Keele Friends of MSF aim to support the work of Medecins Sans Frontieres (MSF). We have two objectives: to increase awareness of the work done by MSF, and to raise funds to further support them. This is the second year Keele students have organised a global health challenges conference in association with Friends of MSF, with the aim of engaging students, healthcare professionals and the wider community in global and local healthcare issues.
Conference Team:
Logistics - this team controls the organisational aspects of the conference. They keep the day running smoothly, managing the schedule, as well as helping to prepare the conference set up before the big day.
Media - the team in charge of keeping us connected. This includes ensuring that our socials pages are kept up to date and creating the website.
Finance and Fundraising - thanks to the hard work of our finance team, our application to be supported by the Keele Key Fund was successful. The fundraising team have also been hard at work raising money to ensure we have enough funds to make the conference happen.
Marketing - the team in charge of spreading the word. This team has been hard at work distributing posters, making contacts and ensuring the wider student community know about this fantastic event!
